Why does it have to be about my body?

The other day at lunch I ran into a woman in the locker room of the gym at work. I see her in there every once in a while, since the locker room also serves as the ladies room for that section of the building, and I'm in there almost every day pre or post workout. She made some comment about how she just saw me in there the other morning, and did I ( Read more... )

Testify!!!! Daddy and I were just talking about this when we left the Y last night: It is more important to us to have healthy bodies than skinny bodies. I've had a skinny body, and the mental anguish I had to live in to achieve it was not something I'd care to repeat.

As for anyone else caring, I think she's just projecting her own poor self-image onto you. Most of us are pretty self-centered beings, and we assume that our reality is others' too. I like how you responded; maybe next time you'll tell her/whomever straight out about the difference in your heart rate number, if only to pull focus from the pounds number.

You know I could bore you with all the dumb things that people say to me.

As long as you can keep doing what you want to do and don't have a doctor hovering over you every time you do it...rock on with your bad self!

I was running on an elliptical machine at the UW gym when a girl climbed on the machine next to me who looked... dead. one could see her ribcage through her workout shirt. one could see her skull under the skin of her face. she put me in mind of an Auschwitz victim in Lululemon shorts. she was drinking a 0 calorie SoBe "Life Water" - how ironic - and chewing through 2 packs of calorie-free gum.

sights like this are the sort of sites that inspire other people to do things like kill pop music princesses and torch LA Weight Loss centers. I, however, do not own a gun or know how to start really good fires, and I am also unfortunately too smart to think that such behavior would do anything to stop this damned nightmare.

I don't know what's to be done, but it makes me ill at night.

I have little to add that the wise commenters have already posted. You are right, the rest of the waistband watching world is wrong.
