I'm going to be judging at the New Mexico State Science Fair, which is exciting for me. After competing in said nerd expo on multiple occasions me, this is a whole new side of things. That's a very interesting post. Transition levels, when you feel like something has changed and you've passed - it makes one wish that we had those rituals of adulthood, hmm? Just to have something we believe in that says 'Now, now you are an adult.' I'm looking forward to hearing if this is as momentous as it feels right now for you.

I agree. American law states that at the age of 18 you're an adult. Have fun. That's really about it and it's quite useless when it comes to establishing that transition for yourself.
One way or another this promises to be quite fun.
