Just some random moments that made me happy or amused me during the last four days:

• the express bus from LaGuardia to Grand Central Station costs $21 round trip and takes only 20 minutes
• the weather was warm and sunny and I did a lot of walking
• I had brunch at the Stage Deli - the biggest omelet I've ever seen

I will be in New York for the next four days. I will go to museums, go to shows, eat chocolate, and be completely self-indulgent. I can't wait.

I've been trying to sketch out my 2009 travel plans. I made a resolution to go somewhere at least once a month. This is what I have so far:

Out of total frustration with my current location, I just booked a trip to New York on Feb. 25-28 (Wed-Sat). (Plus there was a fare sale at AA.) I'm going to spend a vast amount of time at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and will probably go to at least one show. I'm still thinking about what else I might do.

The trip from Buffalo to Chicago was quick and uneventful. I am happily ensconced in my lovely hotel room at the Westin for Windycon. In a few minutes I will head out to find the parties - Midwestcon first of course.

I'm in Monterey, California for a few days of rest and relaxation. I'm staying at the aptly named Sanctuary Beach Resort. The view from my patio consists entirely of sand dunes and the Pacific Ocean.
