I grew up not eating spicy foods because my mother was from a family that ate a very typical English diet -- meaning bland. On top of that, my father had severe acid reflux disease (which I inherited, yay) that spicy foods aggravated. He wouldn't even let my mother put cinnamon in apple pie.

Now I am the one with the acid reflux disease, and I'm on strong medication for it, but I still can't eat anything too spicy or it gives me a massive coughing fit. (For some reason, acid reflux can trigger asthma attacks. Just what I don't need!) I think I would actually like spicy food if it weren't for the coughing fits!

Ah, I'm sorry you have acid reflux! Can you handle cinnamon, unlike your father?

I have picky eating (but not that picky!) due to autism. Michael's is due to OCD. Unlike what the article says, I don't eat bacon or carrots. I also wouldn't eat any cheese other than a little bit on pizza until very recently (I still won't eat cheese usually, though).

I like brie cheese on crackers. The first time was when visiting a friend in Geneva. It was so different for me.

Brie cheese looks good to me because it reminds me of cream cheese in appearance, which I love:)
