Cold enough for ya?

Jan 16, 2009 10:28

To get outside this morning, I had to employ a hot blow dryer to the door lock (and then I stepped out and promptly slipped on the melted ice immediately in front of my previously frozen door, falling onto my ass and shattering possibly every bone in my body, including my skull against the boot rack ( Read more... )

It's not as cold as what you're dealing with... but the past few nights have been in the 20s (-6C) and today we'll be lucky if we break 50F (10C)... this is a big deal when you live in Florida!

The dog looked at me like I was nuts when I went to put him outside this morning... so he's locked up inside where it's warm.

I'll send you some of my 'warm' air to thaw you out. :)

At least we still have power to heat the darn house up. The cold had been snapping water mains and pipes in Toronto, causing major floods, one of which led to a blackout all day yesterday for a big chunk of the city. Brrr...

Interestingly, but random, I read that in one of the coldest, populated places in Russia, if you put a plastic bag outside for two minutes and then hit it against something, it'll be completely frozen and shatter into thousands of little, hard plastic pieces. Kinda like liquid nitrogen --except people live there and go outside in those temperatures. Now that is insanely cold.

At least you still have heat and power. It's crazy what the cold can do to things... especially pipes. I was reading about the Toronto thing yesterday online- since I get all the weather news alerts at work. LOL.

I have heard of that too! One of the guys I work with is from Russia and was talking about it last week when they were talking about the cold air being trapped up in Alaska.

Interesting fact of the day: The coldest temperature recorded in Florida, -2F (-19C) in Tallahassee back on Feb 13, 1899. It snowed three inches in town that day.

Yes, my weather geekiness just showed.

I hate ice. And so I'm going to guess on the pairings.

3. Ned/Chuck from Pushing Daisies?
9. Buffy/Spike from Buffy

#9 is right! #3 isn't, but almost all of the rest are based on anime pairings or book pairings, so they're impossible unless you're into those type of fandoms.

Want a Spuffy drabble as a prize? If so, I'll need a prompt and a rating.

Oh man, my mom told me this morning about the floods causing blackouts in Toronto. My cousin is over there... I wonder how she is. Hopefully you're good! But that ice thing is scary and I'm sorry you got hurt!!

It's okay here. Thankfully no more snow or rain.

How are you?

I am bruised but somehow the fact that Van's finally going to be home (he was away in Vietnam the last month) makes it all better. I really missed him (plus, it's gonna snow another 20cm overnight, so HE'LL be home to SHOVEL).

I hope your cousin is doing okay.

You got it! If you think about #3 in terms of books you've read, you just may get it. If you don't, highlight this hint: 'He lets her eat the last of her strawberries with her waffles after their date' and that should give it away. Also, this is one of my favourite series ever!

I bet you can get #10 as well as it's from a yaoi fandom you've icon'd.

I put all the answers in highlight-white text in this comment if you want to peek.

OMG THESE ARE SO HARD. NEVER DO MEMES AGAIN. (Okay, okay, I'm just whining because I'm a loser who can't guess these. *SULKS*)

#5 - Zero/Kaname?
#7 - IchiRuki?
#4 - KuroFai

And I want to say that #10 is something to do with Fruits Basket but DAMN IT if I dropped the series and so I can't remember any names, besides which I don't know your OTP for that series. Haru and what's her name? Kyo/Tohru? (I pretty much spent that series wibbling over Yuki so he's about the only one I really remember. XDXD)

#8 baffles me completely.

#2 Inuyasha/Kagome?

TELL ME I GOT ONE OF THESE RIGHT. 8D
