Jon fled the Wall without looking back, his thoughts bent Southward to where his father's head was moldering outside King's Landing, where his sisters were vanished or dead, where the only family he knew for sure he had left had just declared himself King in the North. Robb had learned, by now, to expect the unexpected; still he was not prepared to hear that Jon Snow had come to Riverrun. He feared what his mother would say, and knew that he had little enough time to plan his response.

"But truly, I am glad to see you."

"As I am glad to be here," Jon agreed. "Whatever needs explaining, I'll talk their ears off, only for gods' sakes feed me first," he laughed, swiping the hair out of his face. "A bath probably wouldn't go amiss either, unless you're comfortable with your lords bannermen thinking your brother's turned into a marsh-man."

"My Northmen are used to looking like marsh-men, by now," Robb said dryly, but embraced him again. "Food, a bath, and a bed for you, though the last I cannot promise you will be able to find in good time."
