Dec 11, 2012 22:52

Title: What Actually Happened On The Night Of Sunday 15 April (But Bigeast Decided To Hide From Us)
Groups/Pairings: DB5K/YunJae, TVXQ/HoMin.
Genre: Angst
Word Count: 2027
Warnings: May cause emoshinki or OTP feels. A character swears once.
Summary: In 2008, Yunho and Jaejoong are given two Tohoshinki concert tickets from 2012. Yunho and Jaejoong try their best to stay hidden and enjoy the concert, however things never go like they're planned.
Notes: Unbetaed OTL. I gave in. Screw writing a fic for the journal itself. I decided to upload one of my more decent fics that I wrote around March/April this year, set during Tohoshinki's Tone Tour. This fic is prompted by this image. I don't own the image, the Tohoshinki members or Tone Tour. Enjoy.

"Are you sure that this isn’t messing with our future? What if people recognise us? We’re going to our own concert in the future, they’re our fans.” Jaejoong was talking quickly, stressing about going to his own future. Nothing could convince Yunho to not go to the concert that a future-Boa gave Yunho two tickets to. Yunho was smiling at Jaejoong’s hysterics as he was walking towards a door which would lead him and Jaejoong to the future.

Jaejoong paused in thought as his face turned sour. “Oh my god. What if I have wrinkles?!” Jaejoong screeched. “You wouldn’t let me get wrinkles, right Yunho?”
“No, I wouldn’t. Which reminds me, you need to relax. Be happy! We’re performing in Tokyo Dome. We dreamed of it ever since we came to Japan. Just think of all the new songs, new dances, and new music videos. It will be fun, trust me.” Yunho said, genuinely excited to see a future Tohoshinki concert.

“Did Boa tell you anything about us in the future?” Jaejoong asked.

“Nope. She wanted to keep it a surprise.”

Jaejoong sighed as he and Yunho stood in front of the door which would take them to their future.

“Gates open at 5:20pm and the concert starts at 6:00pm. We’ll arrive at 5:50pm, then?” Yunho said as he punched the numbers into the keypad on the door.

“Ready? -Oh, I forgot. Boa gave us these.” Yunho handed a small purple tablet to Jaejoong, swallowing one himself. “They’ll mask our identities by distracting people’s attention from us. No one will notice us unless they concentrate on our faces.” Jaejoong swallowed the tablet and nodded.

Yunho gripped the door and twisted the handle, opening the door and walking through with his hand in Jaejoong’s.

*

Yunho opened the first page of the concert booklet and saw the set list, squinting at the words.

“Jaejoong” Yunho groaned. “I can’t read these! They’re all in English.”

“There are some Japanese ones, Yunho. If you can’t read it, it’s because you haven’t been studying.” Jaejoong poked his tongue out at Yunho, grinning afterwards. “Look, Summer Dream, Rising Sun and Somebody To Love are here. We’re still doing old songs, that’s good.”

Jaejoong paused for a moment and looked at the setlist again. “Somebody To Love 2011 version?”

“We must have done a newer version. A remix?” Yunho considered.

“But the original was perfectly fine. How could we let that happen?” Jaejoong frowned, closing the book. “I bet… Yoochun’s going to have ajusshi hair.” Jaejoong said, chuckling. “It’s 2012, we’re 27?”

“Yeah, we’re 27. We’ll look kind of old.” Yunho laughed.

The dome’s lights dimmed and the red light sticks were shining like a bright constellation.

“It’s so beautiful. “ Yunho whispered and grinned at Jaejoong. Jaejoong nodded back and stared in wonder at the large stadium filled with red.

Beats from the large speakers began pounding throughout the stadium as a 2012 version of Yunho, and eventually Changmin appeared on stage. Fans were screaming and waving their lightsticks as 2008 Yunho and Jaejoong looked on in confusion.

“It’s the opening number. Where’s Yoochun, Junsu and me?” Jaejoong said slowly, looking for the left out members.

Yunho looked on at the stage at his future self. “My hair looks… weird. What am I even wearing?”

“You call yourself leader. Half of the members aren’t on stage for the opening number, Yunho.”

“I know… It’s just weird seeing me from 4 years in the future.” Yunho said quietly.

The song finished and the crowd of red screamed at the top of their lungs for Tohoshinki. Yunho and Jaejoong were still confused.

“So… that was B.U.T then. Now we have…” Jaejoong muttered. He tapped the shoulder of the fan on his right. “Excuse me, what’s this song called?”

The fan looked at Jaejoong curiously, opening his mouth but closing it again as if he forgot what he was going to say. “Superstar.” The fan looked back at the performance, shaking his head and blinking a few times.

Superstar eventually finished and Yunho and Jaejoong were visibly worried. “Yunho… where am I? Where are Junsu and Yoochun?”

“I don’t know. I…” Yunho was lost for words at his missing members.

Jaejoong tapped the shoulder of the fan next to him again. “Sorry… I hope you don’t mind me asking. Where are the other members?”

The fanboy looked at Jaejoong confused before he realised who Jaejoong was talking about. He laughed. “You mean JYJ?”

“JYJ?”

“Wow, you haven’t been around for a while. Not a Bigeast, huh?” The fan said, concentrating on Yunho and Changmin on the stage.

“No… what happened?” Jaejoong looked at the fanboy worried.

“They left.  Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu sued and left their Korean company two years ago. Tohoshinki has been just Yunho and Changmin for over a year now!” The fanboy talked loudly over the crowd as I Think U Know finished.

“Oh…” Jaejoong said softly, tears forming in his eyes. No, this couldn’t have happened. He and Junsu had mentioned it but no, no.

Jaejoong looked between his Yunho and the stage with future Yunho and Changmin. Yunho heard the fanboy and was looking at Jaejoong with tears also in his eyes. Why did this happen? Jaejoong thought.

Jaejoong glanced at the stage again before leaping off his seat and running past Yunho as Yunho grabbed onto Jaejoong’s wrist. Jaejoong and Yunho looked at each other for a moment as tears ran down each other’s faces. Then they both heard a loud gasp over the blaring music of a demo they only heard the previous week. Yunho remembers Jaejoong rambling about possible names. They decided on Mirotic.

“Jaejoong!” a fangirl who was sitting two seats over from Yunho screamed. About 20 other fans looked at the source of the scream and looked on at the scene in oncoming shock. Some fans started to cry as they realised that Kim Jaejoong was at a Tohoshinki concert… crying.

Jaejoong and Yunho both realised that the fans knew who they were and ran as fast as possible toward the exit. However, the shouts of “Kim Jaejoong” from all of the fans near them were so loud that the fans on the aisle ran towards Jaejoong and Yunho, blocking them from coming near to the exit.

Yunho and Jaejoong were surrounded by hundreds of fans in a place they weren’t meant to be.

Changmin and Yunho on the stage noticed the fans moving from all around the stadium with their phones out to one part in the centre of the stadium. They stopped singing, looking on at the situation. Changmin with surprise on his face and Yunho with sadness.

“Hey!” Changmin shouted out. “What are you guys doing?”

The two looked at more fans running towards the centre before the song ended and Yunho raised the microphone to his mouth.

“Stop!” he yelled at the top of his lungs, the entire audience turning to stare at Yunho. They’re never seen him shout before. “That’s enough. Go back to your seats, please.” He said before looking at his past self and Jaejoong in a small gap on the crowd.

“I know who you are. Go backstage.”

*

Jaejoong was crying in Yunho’s arms when the future Yunho and Changmin walked backstage after the concert ended.

Yunho looked at his future self in curiosity. He had a mix of blonde and brown hair, worn out from too much hair dye. Future Yunho was taller and his face looked more mature.

“Yunho.” Future Yunho said. “Never blame yourself for what happened.”

“I-I… I don’t even know what’s going on. I mean, I know what happened but I’m trying my best to take everything in and Joongie is a mess and-“

“It will all turn out well in the end.” Changmin reassured him.

Jaejoong looked up from Yunho’s shoulders to see Changmin and Yunho’s faces up close. “Why?” he croaked.

“You said you were thinking about it this early. You can tell yourself why.” Changmin replied.

“Changmin.” Future Yunho looked at Changmin sternly. “I’m going to get drinks.”

Yunho led Changmin further away from the past Yunho and Jaejoong and whispered to Changmin. “I know how you feel, this is hard for me too-“

“You’ve already gone through this before!” Changmin whispered back. “It’s not my fault if I haven’t seen any of them since last year, while you still keep in touch with Boobear when I’m your boyfriend now.”

“That was through your own decision.”

“It doesn’t mean that I don’t regret it.”

“We’ll talk about this later.” Yunho sighed and rubbed his face with his hands. “I’ll be back with drinks. You talk to them.”

Yunho left the room and Changmin turned towards the past Yunho and Jaejoong. Confliction is an understatement of what he was feeling at that moment. Resentment that he felt towards the then-Jaejoong and present-Jaejoong was fighting with his memories of his feelings for Yunho back then. Changmin had feelings for Yunho ever since 2007. It was a painful few years to see Yunho and Jaejoong so in love while Changmin was always looking on their relationship with sadness. It was only after the lawsuit started and Yunho and Jaejoong decided to break things off that Changmin could confess to Yunho.

However, Changmin looked into past Yunho’s eyes and things became clearer to him. Gone were the days of having unrequited love for Yunho when Yunho was now his boyfriend. While present Yunho was his Yunho… the Yunho of the past was Jaejoong’s Yunho and Changmin had to accept that after all this time.

“I miss this.” Changmin said quietly.

“You do?” Past Yunho replied. Changmin’s response was a small hum.

*

Yunho eventually returned with four cans of cola. The other three took them and drunk in silence.

“How’s Boa?” Future Yunho asked. “I haven’t seen her for a while, and she was the one who gave the tickets to you both from memory.”

“She’s tired. Good, but tired.” Past Yunho replied.

The four sat in silence before future Yunho spoke again. “Well this is awkward.”

“Yunnie!” Changmin glared at Yunho. “They’re going through a rough moment, give them a break.”

Yunho and Changmin looked back to past Yunho and Jaejoong and saw their widened eyes.

“Ah, shit.” Yunho muttered.

“Why did you call him Yunnie, Changmin?” Jaejoong asked.

Future Yunho started to stress out. “This has been great seeing you both, I’m very sure from memory that the manager at the time was angry you both got back so late, so I suggest you both set the time ten minutes earlier than Boa said into the door and-“

“Yunho!” Changmin yelled. He faced past Yunho and Jaejoong. “You both broke up when the lawsuit broke us all. Yunho and I got together when you two got over each other. I… don’t know how to explain everything. Too much has been said and I think, in the kindest way possible in this situation, that you both need to leave.”

Past Yunho and Jaejoong looked at each other and the ground, confused with their feelings at the revelation. They held hands and thanked Yunho and Changmin, leaving the room and the stadium. Little did they know that only next year, the five members would perform in that same stadium for the first time.

*

When Jaejoong and Yunho returned to their dormitory, they kept their heads down in silence throughout their lecture from their manager and dinner. Junsu, Yoochun and Changmin sat confused eating their dinner, trying to make conversation with Yunho and Jaejoong but failing. The couple left dinner as soon as they could and made their way to their bedroom. Jaejoong and Yunho cuddled each other in bed, thinking about their day.

Thinking about their future selves, thinking about each other.

Thinking about the future, the oncoming storm of the lawsuit and their break up.

Thinking about how long Jaejoong would have Yunho, and how long Yunho would have Jaejoong.

Thinking about eternity.

What eternity really meant.

Would the group ever grasp eternity together if the future never happened?

Yunho and Jaejoong, sadly, would never find out.
