52. Mark Lawrence, Prince of Thorns (Broken Empire #1) -- this is a book I wouldn't have picked up if not for ikel89's intriguing write-up. The write-up reminded me of Abercrombie, but, beyond a sort of gallows humour and a snappy style combined with the grimdarkness of subject material, the book didn't feel very similar to the First Law stuff at all.
