I'm continuing to mainline Taskmaster, to the exclusion of any other entertainment content. (I think I've figured out my sudden narrative allergy -- it's because all of the stressful things at work involve crafting a narrative out of a bunch of data and figuring out how it all goes together, so I think the fiction-synthesizing part of my brain and

OOooh, I would have picked the gates of Moria, too.

LOL, I love your rubbish superpower. :DD
I'm pretty pleased with coming up with it, haha -- it feels just right :D

Haha, awww! (I had not realized that the terms "boar" -- and presumably "sow"? -- were used for guinea pigs, at least in show circuit terms, until Greg read out the certificate. XD)
I'm happy to know that I'm not alone in finding Greg's treatment of Hugh frustrating. Justice for Hugh!
I found Noel really overrated on this season compared to the others
I keep forgetting that he won, as well as why/how he won, because he really didn't make that much of an impression on me, competitor-wise. Like, there was one stand-out task in which I absolutely do remember him -- the exotic sandwich -- but other than that, I feel like he was just kind of there? Being low-key amusing but not a particular highlight.
Sorry, I guess I can no longer leave a comment without bringing some other British panel/comedy show into it, haha!Haha, not a problem! And in fact if you have particular Joe Lycett-relevant recommendations, I would welcome those! I find that I'm missing him most out of the ( ... )

For further Joe Lycett fun, you would probably enjoy Joe and his teammate on The Big Fat Quiz of Everything 2019 (on YouTube here). I know I did!
Joe L. is also the new "Travel Man" and I think you would love it (especially because you've probably experienced a lot of the places they've visited!) - basically he will just go on a short weekend trip to a new location with a famous guest (usually a comedian but sometimes more random) and they will have a nice, fun vacation. He only just took over this role from Richard Aoyade, so there's only one episode out there with him as the host, where he takes someone to Iceland for 96 hours. Here is a little preview of the episode, which is a Christmas special because the UK is sure obsessed with having Christmas or New Year's specials for every show that exists. :D Unfortunately, though I don't know how to get the full episode. Anders uses a VPN and "tricks" his computer into thinking we're in other countries so we can watch all this British ( ... )

I watched the first part of his Big Fat Quiz appearance, and indeed found him and his teammate fun (and was also amused that it was like a Taskmaster reunion, heh, taking into account the other teams). Also, the Chunnel skit with the kiddies was just plain adorable! Anyway, will definitely be going back to watch the rest of it, and thank you for the link!

It'd be pretty great for entertaining kids or party tricks, though! Plus also a great distraction if you're at a supermarket or a fruit orchard and are planning a heist, but hyper specific scenarios XD
a lot of what I love about this setting very succinctly: the grandeur of bygone days that you can still wonder at, the glimpse of the individual in the vast history
Yeah, I think something LOTR did super well was just have such weight in the history? Like we call it high fantasy, but all the time we see mention of how it isn't actually- that it used to be higher, grander, and all the stuff we see in LOTR is the shadows and leftovers of the previous golden age, that is slowly fading with the passing of the elves from Middle earth and the ages.
I'm going to go out and specifically look for people who are also fans of this thing, and I'm going to want to establish a lasting relationship with them -- not just a passing chat in comments, but ( ... )

Ha, yes to both of these! :D and yeah, can't think of too many other applications XD

*nod* -- I think it adds a weight and a texture to LotR that I feel lacking in a lot of other (less good) high fantasies, which can feel kind of static and flat.
I always go for the definition by inclination to make things, but I guess that's a low bar since you can make stuff, but not be active in fandom? For me personally, I'm not generally drawn to creating fanworks at this point, even for things I'm very fannish about. I mean, OK, I might make icons, but that's because i want to have an icon for the thing -- if I could find ready-made icons I liked, I wouldn't ( ... )

Ohhh, that might be a better definition? Cause I've definately included fandoms in meme or list replies when people ask me what my fandoms are, even if I'm not actually participating in them much at all? So I guess the bar is more of are you inclined to think or even talk about X with other people, which I guess would be the baseline for fandom? MCU is a good example- I'm not really active in the big fandom at all, but I do talk about with other people when it crops up.
but they happen to be platonic relationships, like the complicated arc between Londo and G'Kar and Londo and Vir, the evolution of friendship between G'Kar and Garibaldi and Londo and Garibaldi, etc
No, that's also true! Londo def had a lot of complicated, messy relationships with literally everyone on the ship XD
