Yep -- it goes through day/challenge 15, i.e. end of January

leafy sea dragon, amethyst, mango, gold, tilde

Hee, great picks! I would probably say leafy sea dragon is my second favorite fish, second only to the mola mola (SO BIG. SO WEIRD. SO FISH.) -- sea dragons are so cool! I mean, dragons, obviously, but also I love that they basically look like animate seaweed. And tilde, yay! I especially approve of ~sarcasm tilde~ :D

Disney songs:

1. "I'll Make a Man Out of You" from Mulan (LET'S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS... TO DEFEAT... THE HUNS) -- ok, this is probably a gimme, but it was hearing that song that got me to pay attention to this movie the rodents were watching at home, which became one of my favorite Disney movies as a result, and the home of my favorite Disney ~princess. But also, what a brilliant idea to combine an original Disney song and a training montage -- and one that actually contains a really cool arc right in there.

2. "I've Got a Dream" from Tangled. I loved tangled a whole lot overall, but this was one of my ( ... )

I like that you accounted for the visuals during each song! I rewatched some of the Encanto ones on YouTube rather than just playing the tracks, and noticed that they all show the characters dancing - like, real dancing which probably involved mo-cap, which I thought was really cool. But the other kinds of actions that happen in these songs are great too.

I'll probably still go find your Encanto write-up but thanks for quoting it here. The icon with Luisa poised to fight is lovely.

"Be Prepared" has such brilliant lyrics! Grade school teachers should use it for vocabulary tests. "Prince Ali" and both of the Tangled ones you mentioned are some of my favorites too, and of course "Gaston" is such a classic.

Ooooh, I'll absolutely do the fandom size thing, too. There are only 99 Dragaera works? The blasphemy! O_O I for sure thought it was more widely known.

Otoh, the idea of GRRM "anything" being yuletide-eligible makes me giggle. Oh how the times change. :D

You totally should do the fandom size meme -- it's led to some interesting results on my flist!

Dragaera fandom on the internet is weird! There is a small group of very dedicated people who have maintained amazing resources over the last couple of decades, I think, but the transformative works part of the fandom is very tiny. Some of it predated the creation of AO3 -- I think there were some archives or LJ comms, back in the day, still small but present, but even with a lot of those fics imported to AO3, it is very small. Which is understandable, I guess -- it's a pretty daunting fandom to write in, between very strong narrator voices, complicated worldbuilding, long-running open canon...

I do think more people know it and discuss it in meta ways than the AO3 works count would indicate, though.

Otoh, the idea of GRRM "anything" being yuletide-eligible makes me giggle. Oh how the times change. :DYup, it's pretty crazy to think! But at that point, what little fic there was was all in locked comms, because GRRM was one of those ( ... )
