Blake's 7, and more fannish top 5 meme answers

Blake's 7, series 4: This was a much rougher season for me than 2 (still my favorite) or even 3, though it got a lot better in the second half, and certianly ended with a bang. I liked the first episode well enough, as continuation of "Terminal", but the next couple were... not great. I actually got stuck in the middle of "Stardrive" and wandered ( Read more... )

"The building was on fire, and it wasn't my fault,"

Also one of my favorites ;)

as well as "Life is a journey. Time is a river. The door is ajar."

Also, I grew up watching the OG Rocky and Bullwinkle with my dad ;) we used to love it, especially Fractured Fairytales and Mr Peabody/Sherman

"Life is a journey. Time is a river. The door is ajar."

The rodents like quoting that one, too, along with "Now entering Helsinki" whenever our GPS does something weird :)

Rocky & Bullwinkle is a really fun cross-generational thing to watch! I'm a bit bummed that it doesn't seem to be around these days, because I'm sure L would appreciate all the terrible puns. (They did watch that Mr Peabody and Sherman movie that came out some years back -- they and I watched it on a plane together -- and enjoyed that (as did I).

Ah, Kragar. I guess he could just follow Vlad around for a book to verify this statement XD

Ohh, ATLA/Discworld is a cross over I never thought of. Iroh would do amazingly well in Discworld though! Sokka also might as well, once he gets over his straight man role to accept the weirdness of it all. But oh man, imagining Zuko running around with Iroh?

Temeraire crossover...well, I guess Temeraire is kinda a crossover in itself? Though let's be real, adding in talking dragons to anything would make it inherently better right :D

The Dragon Prince was weird. It was like the people behind Avatar split the team into one that went to do Voltron, and the other half went to do Dragon Prince? Except Voltron got the character/dialogue bunch, and Dragon Prince got the world building half? But as is it's just okay.

the art style an the awkward title made me think it was anime Admittedly, I wasn't into trying it out cause I kept thinking it was a strictly kid's show XD Which I guess in a way it is, but man I've never seen a kid's show talk ( ... )

Right? He'd feel right at home! And I feel like Sokka would enjoy it, too, yeah. Now I'm just thinking of Sokka hanging out with Leonard da Quirm XD

Fair point! It's basically Napoleonic Wars + dragons, so I guess what I mean for at least some of it is a Temeraire fusion -- i.e. another fandom + Temeraire-style dragons.

It was like the people behind Avatar split the team into one that went to do Voltron, and the other half went to do Dragon Prince? Except Voltron got the character/dialogue bunch, and Dragon Prince got the world building half?Oh, that's an interesting perspective! I confess it was the AtLA comparisons that made me check out Dragon Prince, and it didn't really live up to that, at least in the first season (I've heard it gets stronger?) Voltron I haven't watched, though I have some flisters that were fans before the later seasons/fandom went off the rails (as I understand it). I did watch and like the 80s ( ... )

Oh man, could you imagine Sokka and Leonard trying to make planes or self steering ships? They'd have a blast just making super weird and niche inventions :D Always returning boomerang, flying submarines, yeah. They'd have a field day.

I confess it was the AtLA comparisons that made me check out Dragon Prince, and it didn't really live up to that, at least in the first season

Same here! That was really the only reason it popped up on my radar at all, but it was mostly just kinda forgettable. Also disappointed in the severe lack of dragons aside from the baby. Maybe once it's all done, I'll check it out?

the idea that you don't just "undo" 100 years of war and make erything go back to the way things were before the Fire Nation attackedOmg yesssss. I deeply appreciate that they bit the bullet as a way to say that when the tagline says 'when the Fire Nation attacked, everything changed' they meant everything? And after that much change, you literally can't go back (esp how one of the nations is reduced to one person for a good ~30ish ( ... )

Always returning boomerang

LOL, yes, definitely! XD

I myself only watched season 1, but I've heard from a couple of flisters that season 3 is where it gets really good, so I might go back at some point.

And after that much change, you literally can't go back

Yeah, I was not expecting to get that from a children's cartoon of all things -- you don't often find it in fantasy for grown-ups, either -- and really respect the show/canon for going there.
