opening her acceptance speech with "John W Campbell, for whom this award is named, was a fucking fascist" and launching into a full-scale diatribe from there
I'd expect it would be a rejection speech then, if she wanted to be consistent about it. :P

(although L and I were baffled by the lizard)
Hastur also had something toad-like there in some scenes. I was surprised, too, but I decided it fits. Just no strong pro or con feelings about that from me.

Seeing the first photos I thought Aziraphale looks perfect, but was thrown off by Crowley (ginger?). In the show, though, it turned out the opposite - Aziraphale's constant tension and stuttering felt unfamiliar (though not really OOC, and very soon I accepted it as 'him', though it still annoyed me a little), while Crowley in action felt spot on, much more than his look (which grown on me rather soon, too).

the shippiness is played way up.
I absolutely understand why Tumblr has been taken over by "ineffable husbands".I mean, it's not like any fandom worth its name ever needed much :') ( ... )

(Pepper, who is my favorite of the kids, of course was a ginger in the book, for symmetry with War, but I didn't miss that detail at all)
At least she had a red raincoat. I don't like that those parallels were downplayed or just lost for all as the group(s) - no weaved crown for metal crown, twig sword for metal sword, and so on... Then again, I never really cared much for Them or other characters not being C&A.

I was willing to be won over by the cornfed-looking War, but she never hit the proper notes of badassness or glee for me.
To me she had a constant "dunno what I'm doing here but I'm covering it with a smile" expression...

L was disappointed the Other Horsemen of the Apocalypse got cut, but I can understand why it would be an easy subplot to excise.
Yeah, same here. If something had to go, it was the smallest loss.

Shadwell was GREAT! -- he was the one character whom I liked a lot more in the show than I had in the book, although he is basically the same characterOmg, you too? :) I mean, I'm not exactly in love, but he was ( ... )

Yeah. I'd appreciate the moral consistency, at least. (Other people seem to have really liked the speech, which, OK, everyone's entitled to their opinion. But it really rubbed me the wrong way.)

while Crowley in action felt spot on, much more than his look (which grown on me rather soon, too).

I was also skeptical about Crowley set pics, but he was great in action, and, after watching the show, I became reconciled to the look (the odd gingerness as a marker he keeps through the ages, that they can riff on, turned out pretty fun)

GO in general is one of the best canons when it comes to inspiration - ship, no ship, endless historical and geographical setting options, anything goes and anything fits.

I've never been super-fannish about this canon, but have always enjoyed both the gen and shippy art that was always wonderful -- and, of course, the explosion of it that came out of the show.

Even though the latter could use his own, and ( ... )

I did later find this AMAZING illustration of the book scene , that I simply have to share :D
Heh, so we're at the point where: 1. fandom fixes what needs fixing, 2. we tell pre-show fans from since-show fans by their art. :)
