Spider-Man Homecoming and Kairos Meme: Actors

Oct 23, 2017 00:43

We watched Spider-Man: Homecoming over the weekend, and it was ADORABLE. O had seen it already, in theaters with friends, but L and I had not; I really wanted to, and L, who is mostly indifferent to MCU and superhero movies, but kind of wanted to see this one, because she found "Spider-Twerp" funny in 'Civil War'. We all really enjoyed it. I was ( Read more... )

I have been wanting to see Spiderman Homecoming since it came out, and actually was able to download it last week so after reading your review I might do that today (it's my day off). I am not a huge Marvel fan, although I've seen all the movies since my roommate is a huge MCU fan, but I enjoyed this Spidey in Avengers (or was it Civil War? The last MCU movie lol). I like that he is the right age and so very adorkable. I hadn't known about the plot or villain but I definitely prefer villains who are regular people, not boring 100% evil overlords focusing on world domination. I am fascinated by villains who actually do evil things but also love someone (family or whatever).

Ian and Harrison ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I hope you enjoy it -- we all found it awfully cute! (and L is not a big Marvel fan either and definitely enjoyed it, so I think chances are good you will, too!)

I think the movie he was in was 'Civil War', which I also always think of as an Avengers one, even though it's actually a Captain America one.

And I definitely agree with you on preferring more human villains. That's been one area the Marvel movies haven't really worked for me, so this was a step in the right direction.

The last Spider Man movie I actually watched was back in early 2000's, when I was working at Sony. They sent out a poem(?)describing how Spider man movie and Sam Rami saved Sony(???) via interdepartmental email, and we all received a copy of the movie on DVD later as part of our Christmas gift. Considering how many people worked for Sony around the planet, that probably accounted for a big chunk of DVD sales that year. XD

The newest reboot looked cute, but I have been getting a bit tired of the Marvel superhero movies. But I did like the Guardians of the Galaxy 2. If this is in a similar humorous tone I might like it too. I am waiting for the new Thor one.

PS About learning how to tie a tie via Youtube...that is how Kid and all his friends learned it too! In our area dads generally do not wear a tie to work.

Ha, that was the last one I liked, so I think you haven't missed anything by skipping the intervening ones. And how funny that everybody got a DVD of it for Christmas, and I love whoever decided that announcing Spider-Man/Sam Raimi saving Sony in poetic form was the way to go XD (You have the best stories ( ... )

Most of the people in our office, myself included, would have much rather had a Christmas bonus!

One of the perks of working for big studios is that your employee ID gets you onto the studio lot. It did not matter if you are an actor, accountant, or animator, in my case. The best time was at Universal, where there was just enough time in the lunch hour to grab a golf cart, ride over to the Amusement Park, grab a hot dog and get on one ride. Once as coworker and I were speeding along we almost clipped a gent who was starting to step over the curb. Looking back, we realized that we almost ran over Arnold Schwarzenegger...

I'm sure!

See what I mean about having the best stories! I don't know anyone else who almost ran over Schwarzenegger XD

I heard Tony and Pepper are back together in Homecoming, is that true? And does it have more than a minute and half total of Tony? I'm kind of almost already decided to brace myself and suffer through the expected teenageness of the whole thing for this sake ( ... )

I heard Tony and Pepper are back together in Homecoming, is that true? They seem to be. I don't know if there's more backstory for how/why that we'll see in another MCU movie, or if this *is* the "how they got back together ( ... )

I think I'll have to rewatch Spiderman - I didn't like it all that much the first time around. I like the Tobey Mcguire versions more.

Don't think I know the first 2 actors though I did watch Xena and Hercules to a certain extent.

It's a pretty different feel from the Tobey Maguire ones, and I'm not sure I like it as a "Spider-Man" movie specifically, but as another entry in the MCU, I enjoyed it very much. If you do rewatch it, I hope you find it more to your taste!

Does the first actor look more familiar in my icon? :)

There's no reason you'd recognize the second, I think, unless Soviet period pieces from the 70x/80s made it over to Germany, which I kind of doubt!

RDJ really is the perfect Ironman, LOL ;)

Justin and I have yet to see Spiderman, maybe we'll rent it this weekend

He really is! I mean, I generally enjoy his acting, but Tony Stark is at least 90% of the reason he's on this list :)

I think you guys should like Spider-Man Homecoming. The rodents and I were amused by the dorky high school students, so I expect Justin will be as well. Like superhero stuff aside, I could believe at least some of them were kids who the rodents would be going to school with / Justin would be teaching in his AP classes :)
