I was just holding my female dwarf hamster and trying to cut her nails, but noticed that my hand was smeared with a little blood... looking closer at the hammy, her vagina is a little bloody and I'm completely freaking out. My girl hammies have all have their periods around that age, so I think youre fine. It only happens once or twice in their lifetime, so you don't have to worry about making little diapers. If it continues for more than 4 days to a full week, then I would worry.

Is it common for females to never get a period? I've had two female hamsters before and never noticed them bleed.

oh, thanks!! I'm so relieved, I was worriying all day about her, almost made an appointment to take her to the vet :/ I'll keep an eye on her anyway :)

some people have said putting sandpaper on the wheel to trim their nails, but ONLY FOR A MINUTE OR TWO. Otherwise your hamster will have bloody feet from running on it.
