Good Morning everyone...ok so the other day I bought the most adorable tan male siberian dwarf hamster. He is very tame and sweet. Whereas my female one has become quite vicious within the past week. Season usually lasts a couple of days - does your hamster smell a little different than usual? If she smells kind of musky, then she's probably in season.

Oh, another idea, are you handling the male, then handling the female? Even if there's a while in between, if you don't wash your hands between holding them, she may be smelling another hammie on you and is just being territorial.

When I had a male and a female dwarf, if I smelled anything like the male, my girl would bite me like crazy. She's a sweetheart and incredibly tame, but if she smelled him, she'd turn violent and start attacking me. You probably smell like the male and she doesn't like that. Try washing your hands throughly before picking her up next time. ^^
