*hug* Thank you. So true! He feasted like a little prince in his last days. He was so lively we thought maybe he'd be okay and give us another couple of months... but alas.
Oh hun, I'm so sorry about Henry! Our vet was really nice and we were with him. I could tell she was a little shocked when he bit me (I don't wonder if perhaps she has had limited experience with people who bring their elderly hams in), but I said "I can't blame him, he can't speak English" and she recovered fast and said "bless him." Very polite. I am not happy with them for not letting you go with him. Look for a new vet!
I think Baytril + painkiller may be the best thing you can do for him anyway. I'm not sure if anything else is approved for rodents, medicine-wise. Just keep an eye on the poor darlin. As they age, healing is slower. Just give him everything he loves and he'll tell you where to go from there. *huge hugs*
