Buttercup's Depressed

My 7-month old Buttercup (Syrian) seems to be depressed.

After doing some research I found out the cage she's currently in it doesn't have good floor space for a Syrian.

I think your ham might just need some horizontal space, a bin or terrarium might make all the difference :) I'm going to have to upgrade to a bigger terrarium soon...

I would give her a whole bunch of stuff to dig through, chew on, carry around, bury in...etc etc etc. keep her mind occupied while in her cage.

You're right. I am in the process of getting a new cage and adding more fun stuff for her to do. I don't want my poor babe to be depressed and/or bored :(

It doesn't sound to me like you've done anything wrong.

Dandruff has a number of causes and most doctors and vets don't seem to know much about it. It's not a condition, it's just a symptom - so it's sort of hard to say what will make it better.

If her skin is dry, that could do it. You can try feeding her the oily bread like someone suggested, or gelatin. Spinner loved the vegetable oil I was using to lubricate his old wheel, so it won't be hard to get her to eat it. You can hold her and brush her with a soft toothbrush, which might help too.

Thanks! I'll give it to her tomorrow. Hopefully that'll help her out.
