Vancouver, BC, Canada?

Eagle Ridge Animal Hospital.

SARS BC uses them and they're great with small animals. I believe it's Dr. Upjohn they use most of the time. If possible, please do bring your hamster in to be seen. That sounds painful and if it really is something irreversible, at least the vet will help stop her suffering. Good luck!

When I worked at an animal shelter, we had lots of cats and kittens with eye infections that seemed very similar to what you're describing with your poor ham. You MUST get her to the vet. If it is an eye infection, the vet should be able to diagnose it and give you some ointment for her eye.

Hamsters can't afford to lose very much blood at all--not to mention she may be in pain. If it is something more serious, like a tumor, then you'll obviously have some decisions to make. DO NOT let your hamster suffer any further, though, simply because you're afraid of what the vet might say!!

Best wishes to you and your ham,

-Kelsie

And if you're in Vancouver, Washington, the Companion Pet Clinic treats hamsters.

thank you for your input. i was torn between ending her life or prolonging her suffering... i guess watching her play and eat like normal made me think she may not be in pain.

but then i think hamsters know when you are taking care of them as well. she's very fidgety and when i was cleaning her, i expected her to try to bite or jump or leap away but she stayed still for about 5 seconds at a time (which is a lot for buddy!).
