Is this normal?

My syrian, Ivan, has always had large testicles, but lately they've been getting bigger (were talking close to an inch visible out of his body). I had him checked by a vet back in June, and the vet said he was really healthy, and the testicles were normal (and Ivan was just lazy, and lets them "hang out"), but it's getting kinda... gross. Is this ( Read more... )

I noticed that when I had a Syrian. (I've had five hams, but only one Syrian.) I found that they would get really, really big, and then the size would....recede after a short time. I assumed that he had a hammy wet dream to get rid of the extra, well, semen. or he hamsterbated. :-)

Once Morty was running around in his ball, and when I went to take him out, the ball was full of a creamy, extremely stinky fluid. I assumed this was hamster semen, but I'm by no means an expert on that kind of thing.

Hahaha... well, maybe that's what Ivan needs! I usually just let him run around free (there's really nowhere he can go in my small empty apartment) but maybe I'll see if the ball will help.

I think it's normal. :) I've seen some *huge* hamster balls - both on this community (people's photos) and in real life. I don't think there's anything to worry about, as long as they're both about the same size/shape and don't seem irriated anything. :)

Is it quite warm where you are? Valtiel's always had large hamsticles, but in the mdidle of summer, when it was incredibly hot, they started getting really large. All the girls who saw him were concerned, but my boyfriend said it's perfectly natural for testicles to hang out a bit more when it's overly warm. It's the biological thing of them needing to stay at a constant temperature; when it's really cold, they sneak inwards to steal body heat and when it's really hot, they move out because they don't need the extra body heat on top of the outside heat. ^_^
