This one's for my Hammond landlord Kenny Dean. I lived for a year in a building he owned behind the O'Reilly's parts store. About a week before I moved out, the septic tank servicing half the building exploded. It sent raw sewage UP pipes and UP drains in six apartments. Tell the guy that its going to cost him several thousand to fight you in court. If he collects what he says you owe him then he still loses money. When I am threatened with a lawsuit I respond by telling them what they hope no one knows: For trivial amounts of money their threat is just that.

I'd say a gentleman's C. I didn't quite understand when I got here that people are so polite to supposed authority figures, they will tell you everything you want to hear. But then you see their work . . . and you find out what they said they were doing was not what they actually did. This was a principle I didn't pick up on till it was just about too late.
