Ali is, in fact, quite surprised by this gift. She would have never, in a million years, thought that he'd do something like this for her--and that makes it all the more wonderful. The effect on her opinion of her husband should go without saying. That's what kisses are for.

"Oh, how beautiful!" The view captivated Ali almost instantly; she was almost magnetically drawn to the window. But don't think she hasn't had a look around the room, too. "I'll admire the view a little while, if you'd like to remove that champagne before I have to pout?"

Hans scowls briefly in the direction of the traitorous bottle. He was absolutely certain he specified that there should be none of that. Frenchmen and their love of wine and champagne. Were this not such a special occasion, heads would most certainly be rolling.

Instead, he simply smiles. "Of course," he says, moving to take care of that.

Ali smiles at his reflection in the glass before returning her attention to the magnificent view, and wondering what other surprises he has in store...

And she really hopes she packed appropriately.

"My love," she asks, when he returns, "what shall we do first?"

Hans wraps his arms around her when he returns.

"Oh, we have many options for occupying our time," he says softly. "And we will hopefully make use of as many of them as possible. But this is both the city of lights, the city of romance, and the city of shopping."
