Thought of you yesterday, as they were sadly dismantling the cathedral in CHCH.

they're not dismantling it-- work has stopped at the moment. there was a public rally/meeting yesterday to discuss its future. there's a groundswell of support for it to be saved & rebuilt.

I thought they were tearing it down and then rebuilding it from the teardown? That hadn't already been decided then? I do think they should rebuild-it's historic and it would be too sad to see it gone forever.

the final decision on what to do hasn't been made, no. there are a lot of varying opinions around, because it's such an integral part of the city's identity. a lot of people want it saved.
