I got the ACER pink one :p Its a great little machine, the only complaint is the teeny keyboard, but I have ghetto girl nails, so I need to get them reshaped to fit the keyboard haha. Also the display sometimes cuts off the bottom of some of my applications, I need to figure out a solution for that, I've played with the display settings, but little by little I'm getting used to it.

On the plus side, I've googled out how I can tether it with my HTC G1 (through T-Mobile, which is notably less fascist than AT&T and others).

Heh, "configuring" tethering AT&T via my fuze was a pretty complicated process...
  1. find usb A > mini usb cable
  2. plug little end into phone
  3. plug big end into netbook
  4. click "connect via gsm"
  5. browse internets

when you get a pure HTC product, like my last phone (T-Mobile SDA--forget the old model), it's easy. Although, my last phone actually allowed me tether over bluetooth... that was pretty awesome.

It's interesting to me that AT&T doesn't require that phone to be locked down as they have with the iPhone, which must be rooted in order to allow tethering.

What's really weak is that the new terms of the T-Mobile 3G plan do not provide the ability to use a laptop with their hotspots for free. It might still work, but it's out of the contract. They're now trying to push a separate plan for laptops, which is pretty lame as far as I'm concerned.

I noticed that a lot of the new laptops have SIM card slots now, so you can just use your GSM directly from the computer. This netbook I'm getting doesn't have this feature, but I imagine they'll all have it before long.

Actually, come to think of it, this is more of a Windows Mobile feature. I guess Microsoft decided to make tethering easy.
