Thank you for your email regarding the BPL’s new ad campaign. I had not seen any of the websites you sent me the links to. It was interesting to read people’s comments on the campaign, including yours.
This ad campaign is the result of months of research and deliberations by a group of library stakeholders and the ad firm Allen & Gerritsen.
Thank you for sharing your opinion and calling the library’s attention to the blogs.
Sincerely
Mary A. Bender

Chat Transcript: There's a rumor going around that the ads at these URLS:
http://adsoftheworld.com/media/print/boston_public_library_facehttp://mrepresents.blogspot.com/2008/06/boston-public-library-gets-new-image.html Are actually going to be used by the Boston Public Library. I find this idea preposterous, as the ads mock and ridicule not only patrons but employees of the BPL. One man is depicted as an annoying know-it-all that nobody would like and another woman is depicted as a clueless idiot.
Are these ads actually going to used by the BPL? If so, who can I talk to to express my disgust that such an insulting ad campaign would even be considered?
