[OOC: Character Profile]

Jan 06, 2002 22:12

This was going around sometime in 2008, rofl. It's a character profile, mostly for my own reference, but if you want to read it or give it a shot with your own characters, by all means, go ahead! I really enjoyed filling it out.

NAME: Devit, also called Jasdevi when being referred to in conjunction with Jasdero, also called Devi by Jasdero

BIOGRAPHY: Unfortunately, Hoshino hasn't given us much background on Devit, and I'm hesitant to come up with too much headcanon, because I'm sure it'd conflict with whatever she eventually comes up with (if anything at all). What little we know for sure is that he and Jasdero are one Noah called Jasdevi who split in two. Together, they represent the bonds of Noah, sharing a unique bond that allows them to materialize whatever they want when they think of it simultaneously.

We aren't shown what it was like for Jasdevi's Noah to awaken. If it was anything like Skin Bolic's awakening, however, it's probably safe to say it wasn't very pleasant. It's hinted that they were ridiculed by humanity, which has caused a very large, very obvious grudge that Jasdevi still harbors. With Devit having apparently inherited a lot of Jasdevi's anger, I've shown him to hold the same grudge.

Because of the nature of his relationship with Jasdero, it's easy for Devit to push people away; he doesn't have any friends and has convinced himself he doesn't want any, even though he craves acceptance. He doesn't consciously acknowledge the rest of the Noah clan as his family, although he does care about them in his own, special, mostly sub-conscious way. As far as he's concerned, Jasdero is the only family he needs, and despite his connection to the Ark, wherever they decide to stay is home to him, as long as they're together.

ETA: According to translations of the fanbook, it's possible that Devit and Jasdero are actual twins and not one person that split into two. I'm still hesitant to come up with further headcanon, but as of this point, I'm going off the assumption that they are two, separate people and that the 'one became two' implication derives from the fact that the disciple they've inherited memories from was originally one person named Bondom.

Confused yet? So am I. It was originally thought that the Noah clan inherited different genetic memories from Noah himself, but it seems that Noah actually had thirteen disciples, whose 'memories' (powers?) have been reincarnated within various people throughout the ages. One of those disciples was Bondom, whose essence now lives within Devit and Jasdero.

AGE: 17 at the start of the series, 19 as of this moment (February 9, 2011). His birthday is December 21st.

HEIGHT: 5'4". He's a shorty.

WEIGHT: ...and rather thin at 104lbs.

BODY TYPE: Like I said above, he's short and thin, and although he might be a bit stronger than someone of his build, he's kind of a pushover on his own. While he doesn't work out, per se, he's extremely active, so his muscles are well-developed.

FACE TYPE: Like many anime/manga characters, he has a narrow face with large eyes and pointed features.

COMPLEXION: Warm gray, a bit lighter than the other members of the Noah clan that we've seen. I'd describe it as a soft, ashen color.

EYES: Amber gold.

HAIR: Blue-violet, shoulder length, and slightly messy, Devit's hair is reminiscent of an emo cut but also looks like something out of a jRock band to me. His bangs are long, hanging in his face and all but covering the crown of thorns stigmata on his forehead.

CLOTHING STYLE: His typical style of clothing is sort of gothic/punk and somewhat resembles the visual kei movement in Japan. Normally, he wears a long, blue coat, a white muscle shirt with a red 'X' on it, a bandage around his neck, and laced up leather pants that are cut just above the thigh of his left leg. About mid-thigh on the same leg, a red ribbon is tied.

Also of note is the fact that his pants are laced all the way up both in the front and in the back, meaning you'd be able to see his ass cheeks if his coat went up. (And no, he doesn't wear underwear.)

He also wears a lot of black makeup, like lipgloss, eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara, and I can't forget to mention his black painted nails, of course. He's pretty glam, man, and as messy as some might find his style, he's actually fairly well kempt.

SPEAKING STYLE: Very blunt, casual, and oftentimes vulgar. Most of his speech is peppered with insults at other people. Honestly, he sounds more like a teenager from this time period than from 1899. (Hooray for anachronism!)

GENERAL DEMEANOR: A teenager that encompasses all of the worst stereotypes of an angry, teenage boy. He's rambunctious, full of himself, upset with the world, and when he's hurt or angry, he takes his frustration out on whoever happens to be around at the moment, verbally and, sometimes, physically.

CAREER: Aiding the Earl in bringing humanity to its demise. o3ob

PREJUDICES: He's disturbingly chauvinistic, rofl. It's hard to deny that fact when he goes around calling Lenalee things like 'princess', using her as bait to piss off Allen, and making threats of rape in an attempt to subdue her. To him, females are definitely the weaker gender, and he doesn't see much use for them in battle, aside from using them to exploit the weaknesses of men. Outside of fighting, they're fun to tease and are obviously there to look pretty and do girly things, like cooking and cleaning and sewing.

He also has a thing against 'monsters' (people who are abnormal or grotesquely different in some way), though I'm more inclined to believe harping on the issue is his way of making himself feel better. It's never explicitly stated but strongly suggested that Jasdevi's issues with monsters stem from the way they've been treated by humans.

BEST QUALITIES: God, best qualities? Er, let's see... He's imaginative, creative, and has quick reflexes? Anything else that might be considered a good quality only comes out where Jasdero is concerned. His other half is the only person he has any empathy for, and he'd give almost anything to make sure Jasdero stayed alive and healthy.

WORST QUALITIES: Aside from many of the things mentioned above? He's malevolent, mean-spirited, and has no qualms about endangering other people for the sake of a bit of fun, and he wouldn't think twice about hurting or possibly killing someone because they pissed him off. Ninety-nine percent of the things he does, good or bad, are for selfish reasons. He projects his own issues on others, finding faults in them that he sees in himself, and tries to exploit them.

Also, he's kind of insane, violent, and has anger management issues.

WEAKNESSES: Being alone. Without Jasdero by his side, he's literally powerless. In addition to that, his insecurities leave him emotionally unstable, and it's incredibly easy to get him worked up about hot button issues (monsters, telling him he's incapable of something, etc), which causes him to react on impulse and often leaves him open to whatever people feel like throwing at him.

HOBBIES: Breakdancing. Yes, he is in the late 19th century. No, I'm not kidding. It's in his bio in the official fanbook. Now, I don't have a clue what he breaks to, since I've never heard any hip hop or dance music in the series and it's not implied anywhere in the manga, but seeing that it is the 'fictional 19th century'--as the mangaka puts it--I suppose we can just pretend.

Either that or he breaks to chamber music, lmao.

Other hobbies include insulting people and having fun at everyone else's expense.

TALENTS: Well, I imagine he might be good at breakdancing. He's also a quick thinker when it comes to battle, and he and Jasdero are rather creative when it comes to fighting tactics, considering they can create anything they want.
