Rises up from the Tar Pits...

I guess I hadn't realized quite how burned-out I was from the combination of my stressful work project and the last phases of Survivor Idol, not to mention the isolating effects of the pandemic. It's been a struggle to do much of anything, including posting to my journal and catching up on my friends-list, making phone calls and writing/answering ( Read more... )

(in the world of the male gaze, all kinds of women seem to be randomly bisexual, whereas men never are)

I've never thought about this, but it's so true! Making girls lesbians is cool but making them bi is woke, but for guys, just making them gay is woke. They're not onto the next step yet.

I think it's mainly that men control most of the TV and movie industry. For them, lesbianism is "hot," and the random bisexualization of female characters lets them indulge that fantasy pretty easily.

Whereas they usually find two men together "gross," and bisexual men are threatening--like a slippery slope of possibility that maybe hits too close to home? IDK, but the double standard is rampant.

Are you in one of the hotter parts of Texas (which I think is probably farther south)?

The humidity always clinches the misery, though it's hard to tell which is worse. 98+ temperatures (with more 105-110 at the height of summer)? Or 80s-90s with massive humidity?

At least it _usually_ cools down at night here, although those superhot periods happen when they don't. :O

I hate summer here, and it's pretty much always summer from May to the end of October. Sometimes even earlier. /o\

TBH, all of Texas seems extremely humid and disgusting to me since I'm not from here, but I live right outside of Houston. Houston is basically a gigantic swamp and torture in the summer months :( I can't even leave my house or spend time outside during summer months because it's so humid and because I get attacked by mosquitoes, which I'm allergic to. And here summer lasts basically from May to the end of October as well, and it's mostly the humidity that makes it torture. Night time is just as humid.

In NJ, we get some humidity and summer temperatures, but it is NOTHING like Houston. I miss the east coast.
