Wow. My birthday was last week, and I wasn't even fully ready for it to be October. Now, the month is almost over!

I'm busting out the Halloween icon while I still have time. :O

HAPPY BELATED, K!!!! We sure as heck ain't gettin' any younger. That's for sure!

I loved your poem and always enjoy when you take a step out in poetry. It's nice. But this game isn't nice. 0_0

Fall isn't a very pretty season in NorCal, I know. Everything is just dry and dusty and oak leaf mold and hot and blah.

After 33 years, I _still_ haven't gotten used to Fall here or to wishing it was different. Every time, it seems as if the sun and heat have finally just fried everything until it's dead. Then I finally realize that the leaves are really coming off the trees and the bike-path ground-squirrels are more suicidal than usual, and then, "Oh."

I'm still wishing for the Fall of Eugene or Portland rather than this one. :O

man, it's hot where you live. that's just not right.

i'm glad you're doing lj idol again (or dw idol i guess) but i don't actually miss participating myself. don't tell anyone.

It IS hot here. I mean, it's been unusually hot this summer (as in, awful), and it has continued longer than usual. But still... so many birthdays I've had here have been about 80-95 degrees. That is not the high in the 60s I expect from where I grew up, and it NEVER feels like Fall.

I'm sorry you're not participating, but with Nano coming up... I still don't know how you managed to hang in there so long last time when you were writing for both! It was amazing. :D

Late to the party, but happy birthday to you! I hope HalfshellHusband is up and around again soon. Though it sounds like the cake was delightful all the same! But you're right, birthdays in the era of COVID are strange indeed.

It's finally cooling down here in SoCal. It's been in the mid-to-high 70's here, and getting chilly at night, which has been lovely. Though we're supposed to be back up in the upper 80's next week. Ugh.

I'll check to see if I can still vote for you. I unsubbed from the Idol communities today, before I saw this post. Great timing. If I can, I'll definitely vote for you though.

Our son has been doing college remotely since Spring Break, but he mentioned that something he doesn't miss about the L.A. area is the humidity! It's not like the South or anything, but 'mild' temperatures are never as mild as he expects.

I hope you're still able to vote for me! I think so? You still have an account at LJ, so I would expect you can apart from the community-only votes. *hopes*

He's definitely right about the humidity down here. I've been down here all my life, and honestly, it's been getting worse. I remember summers where the heat actually was dry. And now it just gets stifling. So your son is totally spot on about that.

And if I can, I'll definitely vote for you. For sure.
