I'm sorry you couldn't go cycling. It's a shame because I watched this special on how exercise helps our bodies endure extreme temperatures. It was a good long while ago, maybe that has changed.

I've been able to get out most days, even when it's really hot. Last Monday, I was out riding from the office, and it reached the point where I was ready to be done... about 4 miles from work. :O

I've had worse experiences (like the goosebumps and fatigue that hit when you're in heat exhaustion), but that wasn't a great ride. Saturday was less bad, and I thought I'd be able to get out Sunday because the forecasts were similar! But no-- the wind backed off on Sunday, and that must have made a huge difference. I was ready to go out an hour earlier, but the temperature was 7 degrees hotter by then, and beyond my cutoff.

Most men I've ridden with start to feel those effects in the high 90s (they've got about 5 degrees more headroom than I do), but sadly, I am not them!

By this time of year, the upper 80s are no longer completely wiping me out the way they do in June. So, I guess this is what acclimation looks like? \o?

We neighborhood dog people take ours around the park before it gets too hot. Chloe will avoid pavement once it's above a certain temperature. Being a southern dog, she must instinctively know.

I'm also realizing that I'd rather be sweaty and sitting in a/c rather than freezing yet bundled in layers. My body loves heat. The humidity is the real issue 😛

I envy people who handle the heat better than I do! My husband used to be so much less affected, but the congestive heart failure makes a huge difference there. He's not allowed to exercise above 80 degrees now, though his muscles enjoy the mid-80s a lot. Good thing he's a morning person.

Which I am not. Even less so than I used to be!

I would hate to be dealing with your humidity, though. Three years in Peoria were enough (the last summer was around 95/95 for heat/humidity), and it was awful. I don't know how people ever stop sweating back east. :O
