Catlessness

We're at 7 1/2 weeks of being a catless household, and getting antsy. Before losing Jinx, we'd had at least one cat for the last 30+ years ( Read more... )

I'm so envious! I'm ready for two cats (I want them to keep each other company) but I can't while my mom is here. She's too slow in doorways and I'm afraid a cat(s) will slip out and be gone before she knows what is happening.

I told Alicia that I will get her a cat when she moves into her apartment. Her new potential roommate has one and she is ready for another cat as well.

Your Tigger looks like our cat Angel that we lost several years ago. I don't think I could get another cat with her coloring either. It would be too much of a reminder of her.

Good luck with your search. Post pictures when you find your new family member!

Tigger was such a sweet kitty, and she loved sitting on laps. She sat on them sideways, but she still loved being there. Ideally, you'd be sitting next to another family member so she could be lying across one lap with her foot on the other person-- and touch all the people she loved at once. :)

I hope we're able to find a new kitty soon. So many adult cats get surrendered or their owners move/die, but after losing our last one after just 5 years, we're hoping to adopt one closer to 1 year old rather than, say, 8-10. :O

She was a lovely little kitty. A brown tabby cat, though more of a spotted tabby than a striped one. You can't really tell from the picture, but like a lot of other brown tabbies, she had a ridiculously long tail. We used to call it a 'lemur tail.'

I've seen plenty of silver (gray) and red (orange) tabby cats, and none of them seem to have the ultra-long tail. I don't know why so many brown ones do!

maybe when you go there'll be a kitty that chooses you? then there won't be too much worry/concern over what they look like?

They do usually wind up choosing you. :D I'm just hoping we won't chosen by a cat who makes us ache for a similar-looking one that we lost.

The one who just died, who was black, came and got on our son's lap and purred like a maniac while I was still trying to coax another cat out from under a blanket after my husband nearly sat on it. So, the last cat chose our son. :) She chose well, too, and she was permanently fixated on him in particular. She loved her whole family, but he was Her Boy, and she would stalk him all over the house. :O

There are some pictures here, many of them taken by The Boy.

There's one of her peering down over the edge of the staircase, to see where Her Boy is. And that's his red suitcase she's lying in.

A couple of years ago, he went to Yosemite with his uncle for about 4 days, and she started following him around more actively after that. The next year, he was at Yosemite for a week. He got home, petted her, and went into the bathroom. When he opened the door afterward, she was standing there waiting: "Meow-ra-rowra-rrrt!" Which was the most expressive thing ever from her. :D

He said, "Hi. I missed you too..."
