Post-birthday udpate
Thanks to those of you who sent birthday wishes last week! It was a lovely day, with scallops, strawberries, and chocolate cake-but as separate foods, not mixed together. I took Friday off, and we went out to breakfast, to the hardware store, and to see Bladerunner: 2049. It was all good. :)

I've always wanted to try scallops. They're a staple in Hell's Kitchen and judging by the show they seem tricky to cook correctly. Or at least they make it seem that way :)
I would mix strawberries and chocolate cake together any day :D
The hedgehogs are adorable. I can see why you'd want one. You could carry it around in your pocket all day :)

Scallops have a very delicate flavor, so they can be pan-seared and basted with lemon butter (if they're the large sea scallops), or poached in milk if they're the smaller bay scallops (and then you add lemon-butter afterward). They're slightly sweet, and since I have a strong sense of taste, I would never dream of covering them up with other flavors. I'm there for the scallops themselves!
I would totally want to keep a hedgie in my pocket, and feed it carrot nibbles from time-to-time... :D
