You may remember my daughter's crustacean phobia. We ran across a photo from a play in the San Francisco Chronical over the weekend, and while technically not a crustacean, creepy enough. She'd gone to the beach the day before, so my husband sent it to her in an email with "DID YOU ENJOY THE BEACH????!!!!???" as the subject line:

hsh is kind of a troll. but i totally understand why he sent that pic to his crustacean-phobic daughter. sometimes you just have to tease.

that photo series is really, really interesting. it's not just the clothes and hair and accessories that make a difference, but how tall each partner is and how they stand. if the point is to call into question gender roles and the fixed, binary nature of gender in the first place, i think it was pretty successful.

Plus, that is such an utterly weird picture. Who could resist?

Yes, I forgot about the height thing-- the poses were very careful to vary that, while still looking natural, and you got a sense of how much is assumed based on small details that might not add up to your idea of the truth.

I love your family's sense of humour. This is exactly the kind of thing my parents would send to me :D

I mean, not with regards to crustaceans because I don't have the same aversion to them :D But we're all very much into teasing each other. Adam and I do the same with our children :)

It was such an interesting series of photos. At time, it took real effort to find the features of someone from the companion photo.

Isn't it amazing? I feel as if the person who created it should get a "Lifetime Achievement Award" for that costume.Bright colors, excellent tentacle action, and fully 3-D! \o/
