Yargh.

My behindness is now behind. I swore the late Thanksgiving wouldn't come back to bite me, but I was wrong. Delaying the outside Xmas lights a week, and then again (because it was in the low 40s last weekend) had a ripple effect. I now have most of the lights up, but no tree, no inside decorations, no cards, and none of the wrapping or baking done ( Read more... )

I think I saw you post before about wanting the banner, but wasn't sure if I'd be able to do it. My Photoshop skills are better now, though, so I'll give it a shot. Remind me which fandoms or pairings you'd like represented and I'll try to get something to you by mid-January. Send me other details as well -- would you like a title incorporated and if so, what? what size would you like it to be?

Sorry about all the bad stuff. It's crappy to have to deal with that when there is always so much to do to prepare for the holidays.

It is hard to believe, but my university job includes the perk of being able to download the entire Adobe suite at no cost for my work computer and for my home computer. This includes almost everything Adobe creates, but the only programs I really use are Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop. They also offer Photoshop classes here and free downloads of books about the program, so in my very limited free time I have been learning new techniques. Using those to create art for fandom challenges and gifts has been very satisfying.

So I am going to give your banner a try.

I hope everything at home gets sorted out soon.

This made me laugh, eventually, because at first it really confused me -- I know my dad's attitude to putting up the outside lights is that he's lucky if he can get it done while it's still that warm :) And he does them before Thanksgiving! (though they're not turned on until after, of course)

Yes, the 40's is probably warm in Minnesota this time of year!

But for California, it tends to be miserable. Especially because our outdoor lights are kind of a production, so it usually takes me about 4-5 hours to do the whole job. And my husband does the icicles and candy canes along the eaves, or it would take even longer!

Everything always seems to happen at the wrong time and all at once. I feel your pain. I hope things start getting better soon.

The car is at least fixed, and the sewer problem too (though the cleanup... ugh, and what do you do with it?)

Still behind on the other things (I realized Tuesday that I was behind on the Xmas baking too!), but I'm trying to focus on my husband's birthday at the moment and getting ready for that. And remembering that I forgot to buy cards. Argh--where is my brain?

Thanks for the kind thoughts. They are much appreciated!
