I assumed that it couldn't be good for them, but the suspense kept me reading more and more to find out.

I love your science fiction :)

It took me awhile to decide that this was going to take an eeeevil turn, and then longer to make that happen (even though I knew what it was! Stupid brain!)

I love your science fiction :)
Yay! Especially since this is only the second one... So far, they seem to be horror-tinged, but that's the dark side of the unknown. :0

I too realized early on that whatever was going to happen to them wasn't going to be pretty, but you did a great job of suspense building.

One ship gives them some power cells, and then leaves, to be followed later by a much bigger ship. Makes me think they were literally sold out.

"Free food, docile, desperate."

Glad you liked it, and I think that when you're stuck in space slowing starving and freezing to death, a good ending is a miracle you're just not likely to find. :0

Thanks for reading and commenting!

Eee! Thank you!

I saw your note in the Green Room, and realized that I DO recognize this username, but not the one with "cyan" in it. Suddenly, you're much more familiar to me now!

I enjoyed how things felt ominous, yet you kept just that small spark of hope.

The ending was nice--just enough to show that they hadn't been saved, yet stopping before we were to find out their exact fates.

I have to admit, I'm not one for torture-porn or gore-porn. I like the scariness of the atmosphere and the uncertainty of the outcome in this kind of genre. It keeps luring me back in... :)

creepy! i really like the buildup, too - i knew something horrible was going to happen but you didn't rush it.

Yay for creepiness!

I don't go there often, but it's nice if it works when I do.

What an awful place to find yourself-- not only on the verge of starving/freezing to death, but so incredibly isolated as well. Worse and more hopeless than a deserted island, even. :0
