The birthday remorse has settled in. I know, I do this to you about every other year, don't I? Age is just a number, and all that other blah-blah we trot out, but still... 48 is a pretty big number. It's hard not to think of it as being practically 50

It might be, but I'll be that penguin-keeper hugs it all the time. Plus, it's a baby penguin, so it's probably okay with that. I'm so envious of that keeper

I have to stay in the present or I get all morbid. I've been morbid about my age since, like, high school. So obviously, for me, it's not an accurate reflection of reality.

I spent so many years wanting to be older (all my friends were older), and now it's just, "Slow down! Where's the rush?!?"

I just think about how I wrote in my diary around my 23rd birthday about how my whole life was over and I realize that it's just an idea that rattles around in my skull, not a real thing.
