WOW - I'm usually not one for poetry, but I really enjoyed this. Actually loved the imagery it portrayed.

Thank you! I never set out to write fandom poetry, but every once in awhile, the language makes the choice all by itself.

Thanks for taking a chance on it. :D

Lovely, hon. Paints a stark picture of the road so far. Painful but our boys are together. Always.

Together, in spite of everything (and who knew just how bad that "everything" was going to become?)-- that's the thing that has always drawn me to this show.

Lovely. :) I'm a sucker for poetry.

Question? Are you going to wincon this year?

Thank you! Nice to find some people that love poetry rather than flee from it. ;)

I'm signed up for wincon, and even have roommates. Now I just need to force myself to buy the plane tickets when I'm clearly never going to stop hating the flight choices!

Looks like you and Scarlett are going this year. :D

We are! :) We're still looking for a fourth roommate, but I don't know that we're going to find anyone.

Yay! I'm glad you're going. It'll be good to see you again.

Yayyyyy! That's so good to hear.

I had this whole idea in mind of what I wanted to write for this prompt, which is shown in the final paragraph. I just didn't expect to arrive there quite this way, but once the first few lines were written the poetry gene took over and did things its own way.

I'm so glad you like it-- your prompt was wonderful, and it inspired more than was ever going to fit in a structured drabble. ♥

i think this is only the second spn fanpoem i've ever seen. nifty! it's kind of bleak, which makes sense, and i really like that it ends with the boys standing shoulder-to-shoulder to face their future head on.

I checked back (and tagged stuff as I went), and I've actually written 3-4 depending on whether a person considers We Were Soldiers Once to be a poem. There's another I've read by desertport that I just loved: Mnemosyne's Garden

The bleakness is a given in a post-Apocalyptic setting (mourning for things lost, remembering those parts of the boys' lives they won't miss but which at least they understood). But given that there IS an "after," and that they two of them will find their place in it together, offers such quiet hope.

With the right person by your side, you can survive anything. To me, that's what this show has always been about. ♥
