I'm so glad you enjoyed this, and sorry that it took so long to finish. I started it before Rachel's birthday, and hoped to finish it at least during July, but it was less cooperative than I'd hoped. Work went nuts, and possibly ate my brain-- or just RL in general.

I would SO LOVE to see anything like this level of understanding between the boys again. This enormous disconnection between them the last two years has just gone on much too long, and it's been so frustrating. Bring back the love, I say!

What a lovely comment! I'm more prone to writing outward from canon (or within canon) in general because I can "believe" that better-- it feels truer, somehow, when I'm writing it. I'm thrilled to find that you think it fits that context.

It's just beautiful, darling, and thank you so much for describing all the things I thought of season 4 and couldn't quite articulate- that Sam and Dean both were pawns and had been used and all their struggling was for naught.

And then to have them actually *talk* to understand where they both had been and how they went so astray from each other? My fondest wish.

And then for them to come back and realize that as long as they have each other again, whatever happens next doesn't really matter. Y/Y. Okay, the Wincest was definitely icing on the cake- but I won't get greedy. :) The rest? I WANT. Somebody tell Kripke. :P

Oh, I would be perfectly happy for Season 5 to start with them together, putting their differences and mistakes behind them, and running off to regroup. I think they need that, with what they'll be facing, and I know I need to have them coalescing again. We haven't really had that since mid-late Season 2, and there's been far too much of the distance-dance in its place.

And the S4 ending, if nothing else, really underlined that they WERE both pawns, and that the entire thing was about the angels and demons wanting to square off and fight for domination, humans be damned. Even the angels were trying to accelerate the Apocalypse, after everything they told Dean to motivate him to get involved, and that would just infuriate him.

Walk away boys, at least for awhile. This was never your battle, and you were never intended to win it. :(

The rest? I WANT. Somebody tell Kripke. :PMy biggest fear is that in the end, Kripke doesn't want this at all, and is aiming at something that will make me want to stalk him and mail him dead flowers.
