Cassie liked candlelight, a girl-thing, probably. Dean never minded. His life spilled out by motel lamps and back alley streetlights, the encounters just as practical and cheap. That's how it was.
Earlier, with Sam, it usually happened in the dark-under the covers where no-one could see, where it was easier to deny. It was harder to find the way back there after Stanford, but after a few shaky starts, they did.
During a Mississippi storm, a hurricane lamp glows near the bed. Sam's skin is warm and captivating, perfect and smooth.
Candlelight, Dean thinks, utterly riveted.
He finally understands.
