Thanks, my dear! Lovely, true to the characters, and bittersweet as only you can write.

Thank you for taking the time to write this for my birthday ^_^

I'm glad you enjoyed it, and sorry it took so long to reply! Things were just terribly busy in getting ready to go away for the weekend, and then finishing the beta-work on that Big Bang.

I hope you had a wonderful birthday celebration, online and otherwise!

There's a real feeling of progressive loss, isn't there? All of those things Michael hoped for, and that somehow eluded him.

At the end, he and Lincoln hadn't found their happy ending yet, but achieving the impossible and breaking Lincoln out of prison? THAT ending was worth savoring, because it was the most hopeless one of all, and yet Michael did it and ANY second chance was better than the original scenario Lincoln had gotten trapped in.

I'm glad you liked this one. For a happier tone, you might enjoy the longer Sweet Charity one I wrote and posted a few months ago, Our Dreams At Last Unbound. That has an entirely different tone to it.

And our birthday person is actually a guy, one of our few among Prison Break fans. He's just been absent for awhile, after a college semester without Internet access, poor guy. :0

There is a really heartbreaking aspect to this fic; the shattering of all Michael's dreams. Though I had to smile at the idea of Lincoln as a policeman making sense to young Michael!

But the end was a different matter and I'm glad it ended on an optimistic note. :)

You hit that magic spot again, sweetheart; as you always do!! Loved it!

:D The irony of policeman-Lincoln, considering where his path later led, is too funny, isn't it? Though older siblings always seem so much more powerful and in-charge, so you can imagine how natural that idea would seem at the time.

I'm glad the ending felt optimistic, because I wanted the reader to have the sense that even though it wasn't the happy ending Michael wanted yet, he'd done something SO amazing in getting Lincoln out, and they had a chance to start a new chapter in their lives that would otherwise have been taken from them forever. That's an amazing thing, when you think about it. :)

Thanks so much for reading!
