Thank you!

It feels really nice to finish this after two years (the middle flashback section stalled me out for ages).

Oddly enough, that finishing sentence arrived in the last couple of days. The earlier parts have been around a lot longer. :0

This is wonderful. So sad, so poignant, so Lincoln. Or at least the Lincoln that must have existed once upon a time.

Michael was a criminal now too, as calculating and dangerous as they came. All because of Lincoln.

Yippers.

I think early S2, while they were still running around in search of the money and while the memory of all the things Michael had done (and the people who'd died as a result) were still fresh in his mind.

And always there is that background reminder that he isn't worth any of it, and never will be.

The things Michael caused to happen for Lincoln... he left a lot of carnage and heartbreak behind, often not even knowing it (Sara's OD, for example).

A beautiful and powerful fic. I'm glad you finished this.

I absolutely loved those last two lines. Perfect.

Me too-- it's been frustrating, looking at it again and again over the past almost two years and being unable to get it over the stalling out point.

Especially when the theme of "Orientation" seems so perfectly tied to Lincoln (and Michael) for this fandom.

And there's always that sadness-- shown in those lines you pointed out-- over realizing that this is what happens to most kids who grew up in their situation, and that ultimately neither of them escaped it.

Very well put, love this image, and so true.

I think you captured Linc's thought process very well.

The contrast between who Michael started out to be and who he became in his mission to save Lincoln is really scary.

Linoln is brawler with low impulse-control, but he never really sets out to hurt anyone. It just kind of happens.

Michael would never dream of hurting anyone, but if that might stand in the way of his plan then he will let that plan steamroll right on over them. I don't think he OR Lincoln ever wanted to find that out about him.

Thanks so much for reading! I so enjoy getting inside Lincoln's POV, and am just sorry that the show seems so little inclined to do it even now in Season Four.

I've definitely been writing during the past two years, but this particular story... so stubborn! I can't believe it wouldn't finish before now.

I'm very glad you liked this. The contrasts between Michael and Lincoln, and all the ways they are similar (sometimes, tragically, when they shouldn't be) are such a fascinating area to explore. :)
