Yesterday's bike to work adventure... was exactly that, an adventure. The distance was manageable (

*blink* I thought their goodbye was fantastic. The way they looked at each other just...wow. Not only did they say I love you to each other without ever uttering a word, it's what Dean chose to say - "Keep fighting. Take care of my wheels. Remember what Dad taught you. Remember what I taught you." -- that just blew me away. But I know, it's a definite mileage-may-vary thing.
My pet theory at the moment is that because Lilith tried to kill Sam before Dean was dead, she invalidated the contract, which may have landed Dean in a higher level of hell or something, temporarily. But we'll see. I can't wait. *g*

I think I was frustrated by it because there was no physical contact during that scene (I would NEVER want to let go of one of my sibs without a touch), because Sam didn't have his full half of it, and because the actual "end" was delayed after that - so there was a gap.
I just... I wanted more. LOTS more. Emo!porn quantities of more that included Dean hearing Sam's goodbye instead of the sudden credits at the end.
I know, it's very individual. I've seen other people's posts here and there, and some of the things I liked about that ending (strategically, at least) are exactly what others hated.

Kripke said in an interview (can't remember which one, that he didn't have the budget for Hell, at least not the way he wanted to portray it. And the going in through the eye (and what a pretty eye /shallow), and the flashes and web like chains, reminded me very much of..neurons? synapses? firing.
I am very intrigued about Lilith backing down from Sam and basically running. Also, where the hell was Bobby at the end there?
Guh, just...guh...

That possibility has occurred to me- for all the reasons you mention (the choice of going in through the eye, the synaptic parallels). Have you ever read eighth_horizon's And Fools Shine On? It works along those lines (and is a fantastic read. Gen.)

Me too-- I'm SO looking forward to what that all means.

:( Stuck outside guarding the demons on the other side of his lethal sprinklers. The poor man doesn't even know. :(

... I worried about this (the body thing), before remembering that even while it was only a few days, Sam's body was just as dead, with just as deadly a wound in it. Though it had less wounds than Dean's does now. And the CD still brought Sam back healed. No idea how they'd do it now, but still... the dead body issue may not be such a hindrance.

You're making me feel better all the time - I'd forgotten Sam's wound, which was definitely mortal at the time.

I cannot tell you how many recent conversations I've had with my husband about
"So why didn't the little girl die? Don't they all die?" "No." "Why not?"
in regard to who lives and who doesn't after a demon vacates their body. Seems to be that if the body isn't too damaged and the demon hasn't been in there too long, the person survives. Otherwise, though... I mean, the guy they buried just last week didn't look mortally wounded (though we don't really know-- Meg was up and walking around after being thrown out a window), but perhaps the demon had been in there too long.

That's true-- plus there might have been some neck-snapping in that encounter with the demon who (used to?) own her.
The demon seems to hold its host body together so long as it's inside, so I supposed unless heads or major limbs are flying off they'll stick with that body and make it work.

Indeed, that was very annoying.
Dean being able to spot demon aspects (and hell-hounds now) was a great development.
It was totally a neat little detail :D
THANK YOU KAREN for the shout-out, you're always so sweet about birthdays. It's very, very much appreciated. *climbs into your lap* And ooooh I get a drabble? Be careful what you say, because I am totally cashing in on that! You know me though, I'm predictable. Let's say... Sam/Dean, pre-series. Because you're so good at this stuff *__*

:D I had this semi-panicked vision of everyone being all "SPN-SPN-blah-blah-blah" and totally forgetting it, so I wanted to make sure I got my greetings in!
Hope it was a good one (and that you're still celebrating even now)!
Meanwhile, I'm scheming away on drabble ideas. Will ping you when it's done. ♥

Hope you like, and many happy returns! ♥

I actually have a fic all done in which he does become one, and then at the end Sam wakes up and realizes that it's all been a fever-dream (I wrote it before the S3 finale). Still...
I had thought from the moment I saw the last scene that Dean was in a Hell of his mind. I don't think that he's really dead. My friend thought it might be a "weird-ass coma" (her words). But the hellhounds did tear him to pieces, so...
Anyway, I HATE KRIPKE!!! for making us wait until September...*sobs*....he's too good to totally hate though...*grins*...
