[For Teddy] December 1st

Nov 26, 2011 16:06

Sleep had been a little harder to come by the previous night, no matter how hard Teddy tried to comfort Billy and try to keep him feeling safe. It's hard to sleep fitfully when the threat of disappearing into your mind or someone else's without warning is always there, and even harder with nightmares. He'd taken a while to come down from the trip ( Read more... )

Teddy makes several ineffectual sounds of protest, sliding his fingers over Billy's hipbone until they find blanket, and he starts to tug upward.

"Mmnf, 'm cold," he mumbles, then realizes both that he's cold, and also that Billy sounds alarmed. He's awake, then- after last night, it would take a lot less distress in Billy's voice to rile him- and sits up, hand automatically going to the middle of Billy's back.

"What's wrong? Is it-" he stops, taking in the transformed room, the transformed bed. Billy's warned him that winter changes things, but he wasn't expecting them to be changed liked this.

"...the totally remodeled house we are somehow impossibly in? Billy?" he says, turning confused but wide awake blue eyes up at his boyfriend.

"I have no idea," Billy says, turning to look down at Teddy, but his eyes are drawn back to the room again. There's furniture, a small fireplace, windows, drapes, wood flooring and even wallpaper. But it all looks so old, like something he'd watch on Masterpiece Theatre when bored enough.

Curious as he is, Billy is reluctant to leave the bed, as though it could all be some kind of crazy illusion. "The whole compound changed like this last year, I...I guess this is the same thing, just something new."

"Wow," Teddy murmurs, resting on his elbows, still reclined but half raised up, looking around. After a moment he shakes his rumpled blond head until his hair settles the way it usually does, then looks Billy over.

"...did you wake up wearing a dress last time?"

"What?" Billy pulls the blanket off himself, noticing for the first time that it's an actual blanket, wool and everything. But that doesn't really matter because Teddy's right, he's in an honest to god dressing gown, and Billy stares at his knees in disbelief.

"What."
