What is with...

... some of my FList's comments not being shown but a link stating it is "adult content"? is it just me or is it something in their settings? i am finding this very annoying. i understand the occasional NSFW rant or explicit content, but what i don't get is that some of the comments are simple things like BDay wishes and general ramblings... I've had that as well. I couldn't see some journals because I hadn't put the year of my birth into lj when I set up my account. I just put a random date in and I've had no problems since. I found a link that might explain some things.

We haven't had any snow here yet but there has been in in Scotland. From what the whether forecasters say we might be getting some this winter.

so if you get snow, does the support the "global warming" theory or trash it. *g*

i did read that but it didn't make all that much sense. of course *points to entries below* i have some smart people on my FList who can speak technical to me. ;)

Oh well that explains it. The only foreign language I learned at school (and not very well sadly) was French. *g*.

Well we should have snow most winters but last winter was exceptionally mild which might support the global warming theory. Actually to be honest I think there's a good chance it does.

I was wondering the same thing. I understand why certain communities may use the warning because some of their content is rather explicit but a private journal?? Color me confused!

OK, I was going to say that I've never seen this, but now I just saw it on Stormcellar's post which was not adult only at all. :\

Go here: http://www.livejournal.com/manage/settings/

Go to the bottom.

For "This journal contains:" choose "No adult content"

For "Collapse adult-oriented material written by other users:", choose "Do not collapse"

For "You can choose to filter mature or offensive content out of search results." choose "Do not filter my results"

:D

Oh, have you told LJ your birthday? Including the year? YOu need to do that.

Don't worry about showing it - you can also tell LJ to not display the year.

yeah, i suspected that...though that doesn't explain why i could clicky on "adult content" without having to put in a year of birth. guess there are some bugs in their system. shocking, i know. *rollseyes* thanks again, b/c once i did the year thing, i was able to select that other thing. ;)
