I don't know how I feel about the doppleganger. On the one hand, I understand the need to find a way for the character to express emotion that he wouldn't express to anyone else, but it just doesn't feel right in here. Nooj, in my mind, would have to be REALLY crazy to be seeing an image of himself.

But maybe, by now, he really is that crazy.

This was an intense chapter. You guys write intense very well, but I'm kind of starting to feel like it's a soap opera where the same things keep happening over and over again. Can something actually happen next, other than them spitting at each other and the kids getting more and more confused? Not that that stuff isn't good, but I feel like it's really slow going here.

I think you will find the next chapter more satisfying. Hint, hint.

As to the doppelganger - this is not the first time he has seen himself during a time of stress. Since he is not one to blubber on a friend's shoulder and it is necessary to 'show not tell' - there was little recourse other than to bring in some sort of alter ego. Besides, Nooj has always been just a little mad. His early experiences and his llife choices have isolated him to such a degree that sanity is not altogether possible. This is a trait he shares with many other people who have made drastic decisions. ;)
