Feb 10, 2011 21:28

I thought I'd share with you all a little look at one of my favourite women-centric TV shows, Jam and Jerusalem. It's a brilliant piece of television full of warm and subtle characterisation and complex relationships. It's a crime that it doesn't have a bigger fandom!

'A lovely evening until Sting played the lute.' I am laughcrying.

Also, dude. There is a British comedy about small-town old ladies with Jennifer Saunders, Dawn French, and Joanna Lumley, and I was not informed? UNIVERSE: WHAT GIVES. Llin, you are better than the universe. And I will be mainlining this show this weekend. ♥

Caroline's rock star anecdotes are some of the funniest bits...

It's so cool. Although Joanna Lumley is practically unrecognisable, and she's only in the first season.

Yaaaaay, you must let me know what you think!

Girl, you don't even know. Well, clearly you do, because you wrote this post. But I'm a little incoherent about my feelings at present. I'm four episodes in and IN LOVE. Love Sal, love her friendship with Tip, LOVE Tip, love Rosie omg, and Delilah (unrecognizable or not) cracks me up every single time she appears on screen.

The combination of humor and empathy is wonderful, as is the unapologetic ladycentricness.

... And the vicar bears an odd resemblance to my M.A. supervisor, which is just a weird happy bonus.

THANK YOU. ♥ ♥ ♥

Ahahaha, it takes people like that. I still get ridiculously excited about it on the fourth or fifth rewatch.

Sal and Tip are AMAZING together. And I have quite a soft spot for Eileen, too. And Rosie. And Queenie. And basically... EVERYONE and EVERYTHING ABOUT IT.

Also, OMG, if you've watched four episodes, have you seen the Joyce Midge/smear test episode? Because LOLOLOLOLOLOL.

Yay! I so need to watch this. I keep hearing you and Cleo & Cara talk about it (in RL or twitter) and thinking it sounds good. Opinion definitely enhanced by this post. :)

(Cleo is right beside me and she says she's really excited you got this up so quick. We kind of randomly stumbled on the post b/c I was trying to show her about a podfic project I'm participating in for this.)
