I didn't know you learned at 30! I don't know how to ride a bike yet, at 35. I say "yet" because I know it may still happen, but I pretty much gave up hope when a physical therapist told me that my knees were not up for it. Maybe after the weight comes off, I tell myself. Or maybe not this lifetime. If/when, I may ask for your help with learnin', because I figure you're more likely to understand the challenge it will be for me and how to work around that. How did you learn?
I do have some rollerblades, though, and more hope for that.
I lowered the seat as far as it would to, plunked my butt on it, and shuffled. When I had done that enough that I felt comfortable balancing the bike, I raised the seat about an inch and did it again. I continued this until only my toes reached the ground. Then I went into the alley, had Leora do "the dad thing" (hold the back of my seat and don't tell me when you let go) until I was riding on my own.
