The three missing kidnapped girls being found alive made national news and it actually freaked me out that the episode on 3.22 reflected what was happening in real life.

It's such a disturbing story and new information keeps coming out about it--I'm just glad that they are alive and safe.

And I hope those three rapists get the book thrown at them.

I found it very eerie because I saw the show after I'd heard the news and it really sent shivers down my spine with the parallels.

Yeah, it is disturbing; and I'm amazed and so pleased that those girls finally escaped and are now safe and well and back with their families.

And I agree with your last comment too.

I know, I never post to the show comment threads but I lurk-- was surprised, too. I mean what are the odds of that?!!!

Absolutely! And those kind of coincidences just keep on happening. Maybe not quite as weird as this (thankfully), but it's definitely more frequent than you'd expect.

the Cleveland story was on the news here too, but more last night/this morning while most people generally do their H50 recaps after the episode air on Monday, so before it came out. that's why I think no one mentioned it. the coincidence is uncanny indeed

Ah, of course! I watched H50 last night and the news was already out, so I kind of forgot about that, although I was sort of surprised no one had posted about it afterward anyway. But yeah, how very very odd that it was THIS week's ep. Thank goodness that doesn't happen every week.

A fair number of people have remarked on the similarity on the TWoP boards. The whole thing is... well, I wish things like this were confined to fiction.

I have to agree on that point. It's not something you want to believe, but happens all too unfortunately often with horror stories like this.
