Hiring Zizou was a political move, no doubt about that. Flo was under fire from the fans and players have been rumored to leave the club. Zidane is the intersection of all of these circumstances. This is a man Flo trusts (Zizou was a presidential adviser, had a short stint as Director of Sport, then appointed as Castilla coach after being assistant manager to Carlo) and a man that fans and players adore. He is the perfect piece of the puzzle.

Will he be another Guardiola though? We'll just have to find out for ourselves. I'm nervous and excited at the same time!

I'm a realist and I don't see this ending favorable at all - I'd consider it a salvageable season if we finish in the top 5 of the league & make it to the quarter finals of the CL. even that feels like a stretch of a thing... kind of how we felt in the 10-11 season with Mou. Flo definitely went for Zidane because he has the ability to bring the team together (something Rafa never had and never would have had); however, I don't think it's so much trust that Flo has in him as it is more of an ability to keep tabs on him & how the team is working out alongside him. and with Zidane leading, the fans can be slightly appeased that one of the heads of the beasts has been removed - without implicating himself guilty in the process.

At the very least, if this project fails, I don't see Zizou being negatively affected by it. He doesn't fall from grace. Grace falls on him.

I had a theory of Zizou being a caretaker manager to pave the way for Pellegrini to come back since Pep is going to push him out of Manchester soon, but he hates the galacticos policy so I don't think he wants to come back.

I hate how on-going Perez shenanigans have made us all cynical about the club but... I really want to believe.

I'm just fucking happy that Benitez is finally gone, almost anything is better than him tbh. Fingers crossed that Zidane will do well.

so this had to happen.
I hope Zizou does well, I couldn't take seeing him unsuccessful.

I also hope that the players make him proud!!!

i cannot wait for the next clasico -- not because i'm so sure we'll win with zidane at the helm, but just because the thought of him and luis enrique on the touch line is marvelous:
