Iker Casillas interviewed for Canal+

Iker gets asked the tough questions in this lengthy exclusive interview with Iñaki Gabilondo for Canal+. Topics include being accused of being a mole, Mourinho, the direction of his career with Madrid, and more. Here are some highlights and quotes from the interview, which I mashed up together from different sources...

I was trying to pick out parts of the interview that I liked but I just ended up highlighting the whole thing. I think that after reading his insight, his attitude and the way he's conducted himself is now even more impressive to me. The part about seeing only love and then having to accept the whistling as something he has to accept just feels like such injustice. I admire him for not speaking badly about anyone and looking for the positives in everything.

During my injury, I was a bit isolated. I asked to travel as I like to be with the team. I didn’t feel unwanted but isolated.

Oh Iker. :(

And now because this interview made me super-emotional, I feel like it needs to be balanced out with something like:

He deserves to end his career here; last player to retire here was Zidane :\

It's so sad to think that he could have left. I really want to see that too but with the way the club handles players right now, I 'm afraid that it won't happen.

Seriously? :| Sigh. And it's sad to think that Raul and Guti didn't get to retire in Madrid. I hope Iker and Sergio will be different from that duo and stay with us until the end of their careers. And Cris, too. But dammit. I actually have a feeling he will retire in United. *INTENSELY KNOCKS ON WOOD*

Iker is more likely to retire here, but Sergio? Ugh. I wish all these City and Chelsea rumors would just disappear.

I think Sergio has a better chance of retiring here than Iker. He is Florentino's favorite player after all.

Don't see Cris retiring here, even though he's mentioned that topic countless times in interviews :(

While I logically know that players get old and can't compete on the same level that they once did.... I can't relate this fact to Iker. My obsession with Real Madrid started at the end of Raul's captaincy and while I though that he was just amazing, for me Iker is and the only person I think of as our captain. He will always be San Iker for me.

The very thought of him leaving hurts. I felt really bad after reading this. Poor guy. As much as I hate saying this, he maybe should think of moving on if things are going to go south. After all, sadly our club isn't exactly know for treating its players well at all.

The ugly sweater is so unnecessary... unless he actually feels cold.

This is important. He is so important.

I will defend this man to the death, because it is so glaringly obvious he'd do the same for the crest and Madridismo.
