It's the Bundesliga Pokal and my translaton is terrible (couldn't think how to translate it directly) which is like our Copa del Rey (or the Copa d'Italia) and is played in April. Raul played in the game and took part in the on-the-pitch celebrations - and I really, really hope he didn't find them undignified (some weird dancing was involved). But he's so sweet and open with people, he probably thought it was okay!
The saddest thing of last season was that Raul AND Guti both won their first "Copas" but not with Madrid and not in Spain :(
As for the absence leaving a hole - Iker is wonderful, of course, but Raul was a special kind of leader. Entirely unique. No one could ever fill that spot. Every team has someone who is irreplaceable.
I cried - during his description of Zidane's goal.
You see, everyone (for obvious reasons) remembers that goal. But Raul just has no bitterness. Thedescription of just being happy because he was there was typically Raulish.

I'm old enough to remember the same happening with Sanchís and Hierro, and I guess the same will feel when Iker finally retires.
You know you're getting older when you are able to say you saw certain players in the pitch ;)
