Rui Faria and Pepe will be suspended for two games and Jose Mourinho and Mesut Ozil for one game. Ramos remains unpunished. Real Madrid will appeal all the above suspensions.

I'm glad that they are appealing. The referring was a disgrace. I just wish I could be more optimistic about the outcome of the appeal though.

It was - indeed! Arby pulling down that player in the penalty box for example and getting away with it - that was as obvious a penalty shout as I've seen all year - and the player didn't even flap his arms :P

I'll admit the ref lost the plot - but so did the players, frankly. They had 14 minutes to get the go-ahead goal. I've been trying to feel outrage but it's difficult! Why oh why are players such irresponsible, sweet, pathetic children - when it comes down to it? Imploding left, right and centre!

My darling boys - so infuriating and lovable.

The one person I feel genuine pity for is Faria. He's our biggest fan! He just can't help himself! That's why they keep sending him to the stands! It's where he belongs - his soul is there etc...

We played horrible. And if I could have throttled Arby when he yanked that shirt, I would have. And I think he usually amazing but of late he's just doesn't seem to have it together.

I'm trying to be optimistic about tonight's match right now. I wonder what Mou has up his sleeve but am lining up my alcohol intake all the same.

The refereeing was indeed a disgrace, and that's probably something that we should be thankful for :(. A more competent ref, and we could well have lost the match.

Our team's shortcomings are more of a concern, IMO.

Now that there will be no pre-match presser (hardly a surpise: Mou never sends out Karanka when the shit has hit the fan) the site has gone into full psychotically cheerful damage control mode with the following story - because as we all know, all is always well in Madrid (statistically speaking!)

Excited to see Varane, actually!

I need an icon of our barely-legal darling.

It's just his innocent-looking face. Soon everyone will be onto him. He's already gotten twice as many red cards at RM than he had in the rest of his career. Clearly the evil Spanish club and the bad influence of his bff Sergio have corrupted him. ;)

More info:
- Ramos will be available for the game on Saturday because his first yellow in the Villarreal game was rescinded. Committee determined that the reason the ref wrote was too vague. The ref had written that Sergio was carded for: "persistently infringing on the rules of the game."
- Pepe's card was also rescinded. The ref had written him up for simulation, but um, obviously he was bleeding and shit so he didn't "dive".
- Lass' card still stands so he will miss the Sociedad game as well.

At least we got Sergio back! I'm feeling much better now. I was picturing Albiol and Varane as our centerbacks tomorrow and it wasn't pretty.

(Also our favorite pal Itu is in fact retiring. I think I might actually miss his antics.)

Now that he's gone, I find myself kind of liking him. He had chutzpah.

I will miss Iturralde's bitch-please face. I would find it pretty damn amusing even if I was raging against him for a stupid call.

It feels like the ~Madrid is evil!!! reputation precedes them, especially with Pepe, his yellow was undeserved. They probably think they need to clamp down on Madrid's bench so are being really draconian, poor Rui.

Ozil's straight red, and now one match ban is ridiculous.

Stay calm, think of La Liga.

"Ramos remains unpunished."

lol Like a boss. But he has to be suspended, have they just not announced the length?

I can't believe they're holding onto the one-match ban for Ozil...but ah well. We have a strong bench, we'll get over it.

And Sergio was actually "acquitted"! Which means we get him back for the Sociedad game. HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF. Also Pepe's yellow was rescinded as well, source aquí. But he still gets the 2 match ban, booo. Shoulda held onto his head better.

I'm trying to feel pity.

He steps on people and I forgive him in record time.

He insults a man's mother and it takes somewhat longer.

Insult my mother and I will cut off your testicles. The ref could have punched him and I'd have cheered.

Oh Jesus.

I don't condone it in the least, and he wholly deserved the ban, but let's be honest: most footballers have angrily said "son of a bitch" to someone before. It's completely unacceptable to an official, however.
